The Deuce Goose

when shit happens, it usually happens in my mouth

11.8.2003

For a few weeks now I've been commenting on the abilities of the Oklahoma University Sooners football team, today's display only furthers my view. Since it will surely become a popular sentiment as the season gets closer to its end I feel like I need to make my case clear here so I won't come off as a bandwagon jumper. Let me preface my statement by pointing out that I went to The University of Texas and thus have a hateful disposition towards OU, but since I'm not a fanatic sports enthusiast I can look past the UT vs. OU feud and say this:

The OU football team is the finest football team ever assembled on one field.

You will undoubtedly be hearing that sentiment more in coming weeks, so remember where you heard it first. I don't mean to simply say that OU is the best team in division 1 football, they've been ranked #1 since before the season began, I mean that there has never been a better football team ever put together anywhere, anytime, in any division or league. Put OU against any NFL team and I'd give OU -14 points to try and even things out. They put a vicious ass whipping on us (UT), dominated OSU, and stomped Texas A&M out of existence. 77-0, are you fucking kidding me? Coach Bob Stoops is a classy guy, he didn't want to run the score into the hundreds (and he could have with ease) so he started downing the ball with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter when OU was within 5 yards of their 12th touchdown. Fuck me... 49-0 at halftime, what the fuck could the A&M coach have possibly said to his team during halftime? Nothing inspiring for sure, because there is nothing that can give you any hope when you get dominated so completely. OU had 4 touchdowns called back, that's incredible. It's as if Stoops was saying, "look, to even things out a bit, every 2 touchdowns we'll only be counting 1." OU's quarterback is a Heisman candidate, I think it's bullshit since I'd be a fucking Heisman candidate too if I had infinite time in the backfield.
At this point the only way OU is going to lose a game is if they play with their hands tied behind their backs. The NCAA should really move OU into a new division, division 0, so things can be fair for the rest of the teams who don't enjoy the benefits of being perfect in every single way. It's much easier for me to stomach the loss UT suffered at the hands of OU when I see OU display their divinely inspired skills and crush opponents as if they were playing loosely organized teams of children. Coach Stoops doesn't see it this way, he gets fuming pissed after every play if OU doesn't score, in his opinion, every time a down is played, whether OU is on offense or defense, they should score a touchdown. OU isn't that perfect yet, but they've got a few games left this season, so we'll see.
